The Croft

The Croft: photograph by Jane SebireThis is the location where the Garden meets the Tern Valley.  Complete informality.  The area was originally planted as a shelter belt 20 years ago but unplanted areas were quietly populated with trees lusted after elsewhere.  So there is more interest here than you would expect from an infertile stony slope.  How about Juglans regia 'Purpurea', Acer carpinifolium or Magnolia tripetala?
