The Rill Garden

The Rill Garden: photograph by Marianne MajerusThe main features, apart from splendid York stone, are the wide upper rill and the narrow lower rill, best seen through a gap in the hedge from the Yew Walk.  The lower rill planting is muted perennials including Rosa Wollerton Old Hall whilst on the upper level there are two rows of Buxus sempervirens balls backed by recently planted Carpinus betulus 'Frans Fontaine'. Two rows of terracotta pots contain white tulips in Spring and Hydrangea paniculata ‘Unique’ for the rest of the year.
