Shade Garden

Shade Garden: photograph by Marianne MajerusThis is the area close to the Hall which has a canopy of ancient silver birch.  It is the main spring garden with wood anemones, frillilaria, trilliums, ranunculus, leucojum, primulas, hellebores and uvularias.  In fact there are more plants here than anywhere else at Wollerton.  However, after a dazzling spring, the Shade Garden puts itself to bed by early June when the roses and perennials in other parts of the garden take centre stage.
