FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions
How long do you recommend for visiting?

This all depends on your level of interest in the garden and whether you choose to stop for refreshments. For the majority of our visitors, a visit would last between 1.5 - 2.5 hours.

Is the Hall open to visitors?

Unfortunately, no. It is still very much a private family home and therefore is closed to the public. If you book on one of our lecture days, you will get to peek inside, as they are held within the Hall.

Do you accept BBC Gardeners World magazine 2 for 1 card?

We do accept these providing it is valid and in date. We can only accept it when two people are entering; it cannot be used for a sole admission to the garden. One card to be used per couple, a group of four people would need to produce 2 cards.

Can I use my HHA/2 for 1 card on the National Garden Scheme Charity open day?

On our charity day, we do not allow entry from membership cards or promotional entry. This is publicised on the NGS website and in the 2 for 1 guide.

How much does an annual membership cost?

An individual annual membership costs £35 and is valid for one year from the date of purchase. It can only be used on public open days and isn't valid for any special events or on our lecture days.

Can I visit the tearoom without paying admission to the garden?

Due to the tearoom's location within the garden, this isn't possible. Paying garden admission is therefore needed to gain entry.

Can I reserve a table in the tearoom?

We do not take table reservations. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and even during peak visitor times, we would hope you will find somewhere to sit and dine!

What dietary requirements do you cater for in the tearoom?

We cater for most dietary requirements, however
all our food is prepared in a kitchen where nuts, gluten and other known allergens may be present. We would encourage visitors to speak to a tearoom staff member prior to ordering if they have a known allergy or dietary requirement.

How do I book a group visit?

Booking forms are available from the Garden Administrator.
email: admin@wollertonoldhallgarden.com

Can I hire the tearoom for an event?

For any enquires regarding hiring the tearoom, please email info@wollertonoldhallgarden.com

Can I picnic in the garden?

Unfortunately we do not allow picnicking in the garden.

Is the garden wheelchair friendly?

The garden is mostly flat and accessible by wheelchair. The few steps, and slopes in the Croft and Rill mean a few areas will be inaccessible. Our garden map clearly marks which areas are and aren’t accessible. For more information see the accessibility page under 'Your Visit'

Can I photograph the garden?

Garden visitors are welcome to take photographs of the garden for their own personal use. Prior agreement with the owners must be obtained before using any photographs for non personal use or profit.

Do you allow dogs?

We only allow guide or assistance dogs. The car park is in full sun and therefore not suitable for dogs to be left in the car during the summer months.

Do you hold weddings or wedding receptions at the garden?

Unfortunately we are are unable to facilitate weddings or receptions.
